Dear South Asian Scholars and colleagues,

The 21 European Conference on Modern South Asian Studies (ECMSAS) is scheduled for July 26-29 2010 at the University of Bonn (Germany). The venue of the conference will be the university main building. The picture in the last EASAS newsletter shows the front side of this 18^th century building. I have reserved the halls on the first floor of this building for the conference.

We are planning to open a website on the details of the conference at www.uni-bonn.de, after the decisions on the panels have been taken, most probably towards the end of May 2009.

If you are interested to convene your own panel, please send your panel suggestion together with a short description of 10-15 lines each and a tentative list of participants as a .doc or .rtf file to the following email-address: indologisches.seminar@uni-bonn.de

The file should be structured like this:

1. Panel name (tentative)
2. Panel description
3. Your name, postal and email address
4. Professional affiliation
5. List of participants (tentative)
6. Possible suggestion for travel grant (for participants from South Asia only)

Please mention under "Regarding" (as subject line): "ECMSAS panel suggestion".

Send us your panel suggestion until April 29 latest! Conrad Schetter, Anuradha Bhalla and I will sit together on April 30 to look through the suggestions and forward them to the steering committee members. The steering committee will then decide. We will inform the scholars' community on the panels soon after the decisions have been made. The descriptions of the panels chosen for the 21 ECMSAS will be made available on the internet.
